FULL GARDEN DESIGN
Our full garden design service offers a considered and collaborative approach, guiding your project from the initial consultation through to detailed design, planting and implementation.
Every garden begins with a careful understanding of the site, your practical needs and the atmosphere you want to create. Jamie remains closely involved throughout, working with trusted landscapers and specialist consultants where required to ensure the finished garden remains true to the design.
The design process is divided into six clear stages, guiding the project from the first conversation through to detailed design, planting and implementation. Each stage builds on the last, allowing ideas to be carefully developed, reviewed and resolved before the garden moves forward.
01
CONSULTATION & BRIEF
We begin with a visit to understand the garden, the architecture and how you want to use the space. Following the meeting, Jamie prepares a written brief setting out the project requirements, design stages and fees.
02
SURVEY & CONCEP DESIGN
A measured survey provides the foundation for the design. Jamie then explores the overall layout, movement, views and key spaces through plans, sketches, visualisations and material references.
03
DEVELOPED DESIGN
Once the direction is agreed, the concept is refined into a coordinated masterplan. Materials, levels, spatial relationships and the overall planting character are developed in greater detail.
04
TECHNICAL DESIGN
The approved design is translated into the drawings required for pricing and construction. These may include setting-out plans, level plans, sections, lighting layouts and construction details.
05
PLANTING DESIGN
A detailed planting plan sets out the species, quantities and positions needed to create the desired character, seasonal interest and ecological value. A full plant schedule accompanies the design.
06
TENDERING & IMPLEMENTATION
Jamie can help invite and review contractor quotations, answer design queries during construction and attend key site meetings. Plant sourcing, setting out and planting supervision can also be included.
PERSONALLY LED, COLLABORATIVELY DELIVERED
Jamie remains the principal designer and point of contact throughout the project. Where additional expertise is required, Langlands Studio works with trusted surveyors, engineers, landscapers and specialist craftspeople.
This collaborative approach allows each project to benefit from the right expertise while retaining one clear design vision.
